Photography came
into my life when in my early teens when I picked up an old Brownie
camera and discovered the joy of creating memories for my friends and
family. I purchased a Minolta SLR camera (still have it) in the late 70s, and starting taking
photos of my children, our pets and vacations. For some unknown or unremembered reason I stopped taking photos
until I discovered digital cameras. Digital photography afforded me the ability to experiment with
photography and receive instant feedback. No more expense of printing every photo and throwing half of them
away!
To put a category on my photography is difficult. I have taken portraits, landscapes, flowers, pets, horses and
photos for catalogs and websites. My photos have appeared in the Arizona Daily Star, the Center for
Desert Archaeology’s newsletter Archaeology Southwest, Schmap Tucson Guide and Nowpublic.com. The photography that I enjoy the most is taking non-staged, non-posed
photographs that capture intimate moments with people and nature.
My current passion is working on the Arizona Colonial Spanish Horse
Project with Jerry and Marjorie Dixon, Silke Schnieder and Arizona State
Legislators Rep. Pat Fleming and Rep. Nancy Wright. We are creating a bill to have the Colonial Spanish Horse named
as the Arizona State Horse. Please
see the project website at
