Bio - Maureen Kirk-Detberner

Watching vibrant Sonora Desert sunsets from her back porch inspired Maureen Kirk-Detberner to buy a Canon point and shoot camera. Maureen poured over the camera manual learning to work the camera settings to capture the feel and detail of the desert in her photos. In Maureen's position as a webmaster she had taught herself Adobe Photoshop and she was able to use those skills to edit her photos. As her talents grew Maureen became dissatisfied with the results of the point and shoot camera and purchased a DSLR camera. Next she enrolled in the first of many photography classes and set off to take photos of the Tucson Rodeo. Those first 400 pictures pushed Maureen to learn even more about digital photography.

Maureen’s 10 years of experience as a Webmaster, System Analyst and IT Project Manager gave her the confidence to learn more about the technical aspects of cameras, lenses and editing. In the spring of 2008, with her skills with cameras and Photoshop growing Maureen decided to start  a new business.  Maureen named her two new businesses FastWinn Photography and Fast Winn Web Design after her Arabian Horse Winn. In FastWinn Photography Maureen has combined her two passions photography and horses. 

Getting tired of only taking photos on weekends and after work; in the fall of 2009, Maureen left her job as an IT Project Manger at UMC to pursue her photography career. Maureen enjoys taking unstructured photographs of people with their horses and the landscape of the Sonoran Desert. Maureen’s photos have appeared in the Arizona Daily Star, the Archaeology Southwest, Schmap Tucson Guide, Arizona Equine Resource Guide, Marana Equine, Nowpublic.com, Wikipedia, Toscan Studio and Gallery and the Blue Raven Gallery.

Maureen provides photographic and website services for The Spanish Barb Horse Association, The County Line Riders of Catalina, The Southern Arizona Horse Expo, Toscana Studio and Gallery and Royaile Welsh Springer Spaniels.   Maureen Kirk-Detberner and her Don share their home in the desert with three horses, two dogs, two cats and 5 chickens.
