I was thrilled to drop off two of my horse paintings that were judged into the WHAM Community Art Center’s Equine Visions Art Show. I had submitted three pieces, two paintings and one photograph. The paintings made it into the show but the photograph didn’t.

“Winter Coat” acrylic painting by Maureen Kirk-Detberner.  Painting features a palomino horse with blue sky background, featuring the horse looking over his back, photo taken by Maureen Kirk-Detberner of FastWinn Photography in January. This ranch horse has a furry winter coat.

My other painting that was juried into this art show is titled “Recess.”  This is an oil painting of a gorgeous chestnut horse with a flaxen mane.  I titled this painting “Recess” as the horse was resting in between trail rides.  I love the lovely soft look in his eye.  I wonder if he was thinking of grazing out in a summer green pasture as he waited in the dry lot corral.

The show is brilliant and features many large stunning art works. The styles ranged from modern to photo realism.
